Scales falling from the eyes 恍然大悟

“那時,我領了祭司長的權柄和命令,往大馬色去。王啊,我在路上,晌午的時候,看見從天發光,比日頭還亮,四面照着我並與我同行的人。我們都仆倒在地,我就聽見有聲音用希伯來話向我說:‘掃羅!掃羅!為甚麼逼迫我?你用腳踢刺是難的!’我說:‘主啊,你是誰?’主說:‘我就是你所逼迫的耶穌。你起來站着,我特意向你顯現,要派你作執事,作見證,將你所看見的事和我將要指示你的事證明出來。’”(使徒行傳26:12-16)

 

掃羅從地上起來,睜開眼睛,竟不能看見甚麼。有人拉他的手,領他進了大馬色。(使徒行傳9:8)

亞拿尼亞就去了,進入那家,把手按在掃羅身上,說:“兄弟掃羅,在你來的路上向你顯現的主,就是耶穌,打發我來,叫你能看見,又被聖靈充滿。”掃羅的眼睛上,好像有鱗立刻掉下來,他就能看見。於是起來受了洗;吃過飯就健壯了。掃羅和大馬色的門徒同住了些日子。(使徒行傳9:17-19)

  未悔改之前的掃羅是一位十分熱心律法的法利賽人,很有學問,出生於良好家庭,很受人尊敬,和很多法利賽人一樣,他也以為耶穌是妖惑群眾的人。於是極力逼迫基督徒,捉拿他們下在監裏。正當他往大馬色的途中,耶穌卻向他顯現,他的眼睛瞎了,甚麼也看不見,只聽見有聲音問他:掃羅,掃羅,為甚麼逼迫我。在大馬色有一位信徒名叫亞拿尼亞,主向他顯現,叫他去找掃羅,起初他有點猶疑,這掃羅豈不是正要來捉拿他們的麼?他順從神的命令去找掃羅。掃羅的眼睛立時開了,好像有鱗片掉下來,他不單肉體的眼開了,重要的是心靈的眼也開了,知道自己過去所作的,並非為神發熱心,乃是逼迫神。掃羅後來改名為保羅,為神大發熱心,甚至最後犧牲了性命,在羅馬被判死刑殉道。

  Kick against the pricks(用腳踢刺)解作自討苦吃,作無謂的抵抗,是徒勞無功的。

  Scales falling from the eyes解作突然明白了,開通了,恍然大悟,以前是瞎的,如今眼睛看得清楚了。

  See the light解作看見了一些兆頭,醒悟到一些事實或真理。

  1. When he realized what had really happened, it's like scales falling from the eyes.
  2. To many stubborn people, their eyes are fully covered by scales of ignorance and prejudice.
  3. Even though the political group is well aware that the demand for regime change is a kick against the pricks, they still persevered till the end.
  4. You are kicking against the pricks of school regulation if you ask for permission to smoke in school.
  5. The leader of the political party refused to change his stance even though he clearly saw the light that his decision will ruin his career.
  6. When the Prime Minister saw the light of a.widespread bird flu in his country, he finally admitted that an outbreak had occurred.
